CSI: Robbinsdale

Last night I woke up for the twentieth time to feed Piper. I heard a noise towards the front of the house but brushed it off as being the wind. When I heard Lego bark, I knew it wasn't the wind. I looked out the back window to see a guy running through our back yard. He stopped by the swing set and kinda ducked under the slide to hide. After a few seconds, he hopped the fence.

It scared the shit out of me. When you look out the window, do you imagine someone looking back at you? It was something I always imagined, not something that actually happened.

I woke Erik up and we turned on all the outside lights, peeked out the windows and noticed the police at the end of our alley. They had their lights on, obviously chasing the guy. This is who I pictured:

It took me an hour to fall asleep. When I woke up, I checked outside and noticed a black stocking cap under Finn's window. In the neighbor's yard, I saw black leather gloves, a backpack, cigarettes and a flashlight. I called the police and told my neighbor.

I didn't touch anything, I was sure they were going to send Grissom or, at the very least, Katherine. Turns out they just send the local police. The officer told me it was some kids who were breaking into cars in Crystal. And they caught them! Woot Hooray!

I feel better about it. I mean, kids! Kids aren't dangerous!

I bet they got a timeout.

It's going by too quickly. I want her to stay this little and smile her toothless grin forever.

Swimming in a Sea of Tinkertoys

Everyone keeps talking about how hungover and tired they are from St. Patties Day festivities. It didn't even occur to me to drink a green beer. When did that happen?

I went to Michaels today and didn't buy anything.

Piper went to the doctor yesterday for wheezing. They checked for RSV, nebbed her, checked her oxygen, gave her an xray to rule out pneumonia. The diagnosis? A cold. She is barely sick today - wheezing is gone. A nurse called to check on her. "Well, you should still give her the nebulizer every 4-6 hours until you come in on Friday, even if she's fine." What? Albuterol isn't an antibiotic. I don't even think she needed the neb at all -- her oxygen level was 98%. The only person who gets this is Kristen. Hi Kristen!

I really really want to go sit in a hot tub.

Bird are Chirping, Sun is Shining, Lego Sings a Happy Tune

Finn only threw up those two times and then he was fine. How can the stomach flu affect two people so differently? Weird.

Yesterday I snuck out of the house to go to Michaels and Panera with Corinne. I am making her a necklace and am really excited to start creating stuff again. I looked through all my beads last night and have some decent (and possibly boring) ideas. I am going to go to a Lia Sophia party so I can steal some grandiose designs. Sorry Ms. Sophia.

I also ate some onions yesterday. Raw. Guess my declaration of not eating them for 4 months was wrong.

Piper slept 8 hours yesterday. Piper for president!

Oh crap.

Finn threw up last night and again this morning. I guess it's not food poisoning after all. Crap, crap, crap. I hope no one gets sick.

Finn's a much better patient than me. He barely complains. I moaned and cried and wished for death. He's like "Hehehehe! A kitty is on tv! My tummy hurts. Can I play outside?"

Awww

Erik got me Food Poisoning flowers. He must feel guilty for all the poison he's been dumping in my coffee.

Superhero Talent: Blogging While Puking

Oh lord am I sick. Most of you know this but I haven't properly whined on my web site so here goes.

Monday night: Wake up with a tummy ache. It almost feels like a panic attack. My heart is beating fast, I can't calm my mind, spinning and ungodly horribly nauseous.

Tuesday 2am: First puke. I never puke, I think to myself. This will be it. Just this once. Dang, everyone is going to get sick now.

Tuesday 2am - 10am: Vomit five more times. Fever hits 100. I'm shaking uncontrollably and weeping. When I do sleep, I have those crazy fever dreams. Erik brings me Piper to nurse every few hours. When Erik and Finn run up to Cub, I have to practically throw her to go vomit.

Tuesday 11am - 6pm: Hey, I'm starting to feel better. I drink some gatorade without throwing up. I eat some crackers.

Tuesday 8pm: Go to bed fully expecting everyone to wake up with the stomach flu.

Wednesday: Hooray, I feel better. I'm weak and dehydrated. Make up for it by slamming Gatorade and eating peanut butter and cheese sandwiches, cookies, chips.

Wednesday 9pm: Corinne and I made fajitas and mexican rice for Testing America's Test Kitchen Night. Nausea returns. Stupid, stupid food. I hate you. Go to bed and pray that it passes.

Wednesday 11pm: Vomit. What the hell is wrong with me?

Thursday: I barely slept last night -- I was too busy trying to will away the nausea. The diarrhea hit at 5am. Erik has an important meeting he has to go to. Turn TV on, pray this goes away.

Sorry, wow, does anyone enjoy reading a play-by-play of my sickness? It was fun to write anyway. No one else here is sick. Pretty sure this is food poisoning. Or regular poisoning?

For My Two Glorious Fans ..and my Mom

My day:
  • Woke up at 7:38am with Finn yelling, "Is it time to get up yet?" For a moment, I think he's slept in but realize with DST, he's still getting up at 6:30am.
  • Coffee, dress Finn, let Lego out, dress Piper, check INTERNET, shower. Check clock -- hey, I have time for eye shadow this morning! Glorious.
  • Drop Finn off at preschool.
  • Dunn Bros with my mom friends.
  • Pick Finn up from preschool.
  • Picnic in the living room for lunch. Ask Finn if he likes salami or ice cream. "Salami," he tells me.
  • Realize that Finn will do whatever I tell him as long as I'm using my "teacher voice" which requires I talk ten octaves higher. Score!
  • Nap time! Finn asks every ten minutes if he can get up. I watch General Hospital and surf.
  • Give up on nap time after an hour and a half. Eat frosting. Dammit!
  • Clean up kitchen. Ignore the dog hair on the floor that I told myself I'd sweep two days ago.
  • Realize Piper hasn't napped either. Maybe that's why she's crabby? By crabby I mean randomly making a fuss noise.
  • Blogged for my mom. Happy birthday, Mom!

New Era, Web 2.7 and Laziness.

I'm still here, happy and mostly well-rested. I've been cheating on my web site with Facebook. I'm so sorry http://blog.periferal.com. It's easier to type a one-sentence status update than an entire post. Plus I'm lazy.
