**knock knock**
Guy: Hi, I'm Guy from the city of Robbinsdale Utility. They will be replacing a water line on your street tomorrow so your water will be out from 8am-2pm.
Me: Oh, uhm. Ok. Does that mean we can't flush the toilet?
Guy: You can flush it once!
Me: I have a husband with the stomach flu. I have two children. Probably at least one of us is going to get it. What will I do then? I know this isn't your problem. I just need to complain out loud.
Guy: Have a nice day!

Anniversary Toasting Flutes 2009

Every year we get a set of champagne flutes to celebrate our anniversary. After seven years, we have started a fun collection. I didn't buy a set on our anniversary this year (up to my head in baby) until now. I found the perfect set on Etsy from Bread and Badger. Aren't they awesome?

Big Girl Night #2
Full of win! Piper slept from 7pm-2am, 2am-5:30am, woke up at 7:30am. She fussed from about 1:30-2am every ten mins or so but put herself back to sleep about a minute. The best part? Finn slept in there too! I took the co-sleeper down and rearranged the room. Our room is ours again! Why didn't I do this sooner? I guess my gut told me she wasn't ready. And I'm lazy.

Crib Test = PASS
Erik and I were talking about an upcoming party and how it's a bummer I won't be able to really let my hair down since I'll have to nurse Pipes. It's stupid, since she's seven months old, she should be able to go most of the night without eating. She wakes up at least 4 times still. Erik wondered why she was still eating at night. I answered BECAUSE I STILL NURSE HER. He asked why we don't try not nursing her instead? Hmmm.... smrt.
We came up with a detailed plan which included counting minutes and an extravagant bed set-up for Finn in our room because Piper would probably cry the majority of the night. I agreed to nurse her twice (2am & 5am) because I thought going cold turkey was mean. Plus I don't like mastitis, ya know? Erik agreed to sleep on the couch and comfort her all the other times she woke up. Finn agreed to sleep on his blow-up mattress on the floor. I agreed that Mommy getting sleep and being able to go out at night is going to be TOTALLY AWESOME.
Did I mention we came up with this plan 30 mins before their bedtime?
We put Finn to bed, Piper to bed and sat down and wondered what kind of hell night we had to look forward to. Piper fell asleep about 20 mins after I put her down (the usual) and Finn took about an hour (the usual). Finn, that sneaky boy, crawled into our bed and fell asleep despite our floor blow-up bed set-up. Did I mention it was extravagant? I didn't have the heart to move him when I went to bed.
So how did it go? She cried a bit between 9am-11pm. Never more than 2 mins though. And then she slept! She cried at 2am, I fed her and she slept until 5:45am. She's still sleeping now. In her crib! Now I can start moving that 2am feeding back to 3am, 4am...etc. I can give back the co-sleeper and have our room back!
I know, I know. It was the first night. Maybe tomorrow will be the hell night? But at least I have hope.

Two Days Worth of Necklaces
I am donating a couple necklaces for a benefit this Thursday. Here are the ones I'm considering donating.

My favorite part about this necklace is the clasp. Isn't it gorgeous? I also love the big glass beads. Three strands -- are you surprised?

"Imagination is everything. It's the preview of life's coming attractions."
If that's the case, my imagination says we're screwed.

A teenage Muppet necklace?

Make Your Own Dry Erase Board
Stacy and I went to the Battle Lake craft fair last weekend and a vendor had some really cool dry erase boards. I wanted one... but for $30? I decided to make my own. I spent about a dollar? Not including the markers -- those suckers were like $6. I had my own frame so all I needed was cute paper. Two styles. Which one do you like better?
